Monochromatic Flutter Top

November 30, 2015
Now this top would generally be on my list of items to stay away from.  The flutter peplum is not something that is flattering on everyone.  I'm not sure what possessed me to pick it up and try it on but it ended up in the dressing room with me.  As soon as I put it on I felt good in it.  I twirled around in the dressing room mirror to my surprise and thought It was flattering to my surprise.  The details on the neckline and the monochrome pattern is so delicate but sexy.  I chose to wear a solid tank under the top as its a wee bit sheer.  I may look for a cage tank or cage bra if it covers enough to wear under it.  I didn't know what a cage bra was until I started researching them.... sounds a bit risqué. What would you wear under this top?

Polka Dot Tunic

November 25, 2015
I love a good tunic.  And by good tunic I mean a top long enough to cover your bum but not so big it looks maternity.  I had my first holiday party this weekend and was shopping for something festive. Perhaps red or green..... I know so cliché.  I wasn't having much luck because what I was picturing in my head and what I wanted to spend were totally not on the same page. I did however score this darling  top.  When I saw this tunic in Loft (And on sale) I knew it would look great with leggings or skinny jeans.  Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I have a low key holiday planned this year.  No traveling; just small and intimate. Hope you enjoy the long weekend with friends and family and don't eat too much!

For Your Best Friend

November 16, 2015
Can you believe the holiday season is upon us?  Yesterday I joked when Joe asked what I had planned for the day that I was putting the tree up for Christmas!  Ha, he didn't find that overly funny, but was a bit nervous I could have been serious!  Traditionally I never decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving.  I do however start my shopping.  When the boys were little I would have 90% off my shopping done before September ended.  As the years have passed and the boys grown I have not been as good with this goal.   So I hope my gift guides are helpful for you as they are for me!  First up with my gift guides is the best friend.  That person who is your ride or die friend.  This is for her!

Casual Vibes

November 09, 2015

What do you get when you add a cable sweater, pink plaid, and the best pair of girlfriend jeans?  The perfect casual outfit!  Toady is the third look on different ways to style your blanket scarf.  And can I tell ya?...... who ever came up with girlfriend jeans is a genius.  Not boyfriend jeans that can be sloppy and baggy, and not slim fit that has a time and place, but girlfriend.... fitted in all the right places and loose in all the others.  I love these jeans and found them in the juniors department (gasp)!  I usually stay out of the juniors department but I'm glad I gave them a try!  This sweater, which I shared with you here is going to be on heavy rotation this winter. I love the cable front and the solid lighter weight gray back making the seater not as heavy.   Love it!

Date Night

November 06, 2015

TGIF!  This week seemed to drag on for some reason.  Trying to get use to it getting dark by 6 always throws me off.  It feels like its 8 when its actually 6.  I am sharing my second look for how to wear a blanket scarf.  I shared my work day look here and today I am focusing on comfy date night. Transitioning a sleeveless maxi, I threw on my trusty denim jacket and topped it off with this reversible blanket scarf.  Using layers allows me the versatility to take off my jacket and still have my shoulders covered.  Another must have for your wardrobe are these booties.  I have shared them here, here, and here recently and they are truly a must for the season.  Next week I am sharing my third look with a blanket scarf you won't want to miss!  Have a great weekend!

Work Day

November 05, 2015

Ahhhhhh..... blanket scarf weather.  I am so glad we are having mild enough weather to enjoy my scarfs without technically bundling up in them.  Today I am sharing the first of three looks on styling your blanket scarf.  First up is the work day.  Camel is a really hot color this fall and such a versatile neutral complimenting my blackwatch plaid scarf.  It's not cold enough yet to need a pair of tights so I opted for leggings with my booties.  Not to mention I really wasn't in the mood to shimmy into a pair! lol  This is a pretty basic look with a black skirt but you could really switch it up and go with an all leather skirt.  Burgundy would look great with this scarf and camel and even a pair of slim pants and knee boots.  How would you wear a blanket scarf to the office?

Wednesday Wants

November 04, 2015
Happy Wednesday!  Today I am sharing a few things that are on my list of things I want!  A cute little pair of lace up flats, this blanket scarf with green blue and orange.  Hello pretty little burgundy fringe bag.  These sunglasses are so affordable I might need more than one pair!  What's on your list of wants this week?

Dress up Distress

November 03, 2015

Wearing distressed denim doesn't have to mean dressing down or casual.  With a few minor additions to your denim you can easily dress up your outfit.  I have had this jacket for several years.  I purchased it from one of my favorite stores that is no longer in business; Harolds.  I shopped there all through high school and right up until they went out of business a few years ago.  I sure do miss that store.  Back to the denim.... I wanted to dress up my jeans while still staying on trend with distress so I jazzed up my look with a platform bootie and peplum jacket adding the perfect touch to my ripped knees.  I have mentioned before I am not  huge fan of the totally distressed jeans but a little rip here and there is fine.  Another successful look with items in my closet showing you just how easy it is to work with the wardrobe you have built for yourself.

Fall Outfit Inspiration with Hunter

November 02, 2015

Hunter_Boots_in_Fall

It is beyond a Happy Monday here in Kansas City.  In case you don't follow baseball the Kansas City Royals won the World Series last night in a 12 inning game.  To say the town is excited is an understatement.  There were fireworks and screaming all over town when it was finally over.  Tomorrow there will be a parade to honor our boys in blue that they truly deserve.   Being tired today is so worth it!  It is a little difficult to be in fall spirit when A) your still cheering for baseball instead of football, and B) the weather is gorgeous.  Layers are definitely a must.  Grabbing a few basics from my closet I layered up the perfect fall look.  As the day warms up this outfit is an easy transition; tie my chambray shirt around my waist and switch from my Hunter boots to flats.  I love mix and matching from my own closet without needing to purchase something new to make a new outfit.  Take some time and really discover what is in your closet..... you will be amazed at what you can create too!
