Plaza Lights

January 11, 2012

We had dinner on the Plaza tonight.  They still have the christmas lights up.  There is something romantic to the Plaza. Kansas City is know for its fountains and there are several on the Plaza.   Maybe it is the strolling and window shopping, or the horse drawn carriage rides (something we have never done) but whatever it is we always feel good when we get there.  We have dinner on the plaza at least once a week.  Generally its sushi.  We talk about trying a new place every so often but always end up at Kona.  We drive approximately 30 minutes to get there and once were there we feel a sense of escape.  As if we have traveled to a distant city and we are tourists.  In the spring and summer we sit on the patio and enjoy the scene of yuppy single people that live the life of no children and small high rise apartments!  Something I can only imagine.

It started to snow tonight while we were on the plaza, it added to the romantic feeling.  It wasn't much.  Far less than usual for this time of the year, but non the less snow.   We ended the evening by having a coffee and baileys at Seasons 52.  My Bestie was there having dinner as well.  It is always nice to run into friends.

2011 Highlights

January 08, 2012

2011 was a year of several memorable moments. My middle son graduated from high school, and my youngest entered high school.   My second grandson was born.  We attended a fashing party.  I had my great room repainted, and I painted a Union Jack.  (More on that to come) and we were hit with the terrible blizzard as most of the country was for weeks.

There were many first as well.  My youngest got his first pet lizard, both of my oldest sons got their first F-150 pickups (its a man thing), I hung sheetrock, mud and taped it. ( I will hire that out if I ever have to do that again) Visited El Paso, not that its a vacation destination but my son is stationed there. My highlights for 2012 will be packed with adventures and projects as I have a lofty list of thing to accomplish  in the upcoming year! Wish me luck!

Goals

2012
Goal: noun  The end towards which effort is directed

Resolution: noun  The act of analyzing a complex notion into simpler ones

This year I decided to set goals rather than resolutions.  According to Webster’s Dictionary goal takes effort and resolution requires analyzing.  So here they are.

1.     Learn to take better photos.  We bought a Nikon SLR camera last year and I can’t even begin to tell you everything it can do.  Maybe even take a photography class at the junior college.

2.   Post to my blog regularly.  Nuff said!

3.    Take a road trip with the Bestie!  She and I use to take at least two trips a year.  Now life has gotten so busy for us that we haven’t done this for a while.  We talk about it every year.

4.   Running again regularly.

5.   Eat healthy.  I like sweets, what can I say.  This will be the tough one for me but I hope it will go hand in hand with #4.

6.   Take a cruise.  The Caribbean blue water and the exciting ports of call sound wonderfully relaxing.

So what are your goals or resolutions for the New Year?  I would love to hear.  Leave me a comment.
