Raw White Diamonds
I recently was introduced to Alexis Russell designs.  Modern with a flair for organic. I have always been drawn to unique pieces of jewelry and hers are no exception. She describes her collection as "earthy and understated, yet refined and elegant".  I couldn't agree more.  She began her line in 2005 combining her love for fashion with her creative talent.  Her pieces are handcrafted as she marries organic elements with modern designs. I find myself getting lost in her site.  The raw beauty of the designs are something that I am drawn to.  Don't you love this bracelet?  I love coming across a new designer.

Her eye for detail is unique as she links traditional methods with a modern flair using conflict-free gemstones and diamonds, and fine recycled metals.  I love the colors of the gemstones she chooses, so rich and vibrant.

Her designs can be found across the country in several boutiques and galleries.  Click over to her site and browse around.  There is a style, size and design for everyone.  I love the first two pair of earrings I posted.  I have a birthday in three weeks and those would be a perfect gift!

Alexis is quoted as saying "I want women to feel both beautiful and comfortable wearing my pieces".  I would for sure feel beautiful in one of her designs wouldn't you?

Walk on the Wild Side

July 12, 2012
Animal print has long been a staple in fashion for many years.  It never seems to go out of style.  I love a splash of animal print in my warbrobe or even in my home decor.  The choices are plenty to add that pizazz you need to put a pep in your step and feel the roar.  Ok, that was cheesy, but I had to say it!

Several friends have asked me to help them decorate their homes, and while they have a good eye and direction they seem to always add too much animal!  It is a bold statement that carrys itself well in small doses.  A splash of zebra here, and maybe a leopard pillow there, and in no time you have a fabulous design.  That rule however, doesn't apply for fashion.  As long as your not head to toe, in which case you could look like you were in costume, or not mixing up several (as in more than two) pull out a look that will turn heads.  Another girl will always look at you to see how you styled your outfit when you wear animal.  It's the nature of the beast!  Ok no more cheesy line!

Dip Dye take 2

July 11, 2012
DIY
Remember this post?  It has been popular.  So I decided to take another stab at dip dying.  I learned a few things from the first adventure, and thought I could streamline the process.   I was right!  It was very easy this time and I did it alone.  Now first let me just say I did not choose the best color for photographing as it is a soft China Blue. What can I say.....blondes look good in blue!   But I think you can clearly see the the effect!

Simple as this:
  • Stainless sink
  • measuring cup and spoons
  • Salt
  • warm water
  • spray bottle
  • Clip hangar
  • shirt
  • Dylon Dye
  • If your sink is not as deep as this one you may want to use rubber gloves
Wash the shirt.
While still damp, clip the shoulders onto the hangar.
Follow the directions on the package of Dylon Dye. (I recommend Dylon)
Dip shirt to desire depth.
Let sit in water and occasionally spray the top dip line with the spray bottle of clean water to diffuse the line.

The length of time you let the shirt set in the dye will vary based on your personal preference of desire color.  the longer in the water the deeper the color.
Rinse in cool water and hang to dry.
Wash alone the first time.
And there you have it!  Much easier than the original post I think!

Madewell Styling Event

July 10, 2012
So yesterday I shared with you some of the shoes that Madewell has to offer.  Well now I want to shop with you too!  I attended a Madewell styling event I wrote about in this post a while back and found several great items to add to my closet. Stripes and dots of course!  So I am excited for this Sunday's event and hope  that you can attend.  I can't say that I would pick you up from the airport if you flew in for the event, but I can tell you that I would go out after the event for a nightcap and well maybe even desert if you did fly in!

Enjoy the first look of their new Fall 2012 lineup along with a shopping discount!  There will be giveaways, and sweet treats and drinks.  The Madewell stylist will be ready and waiting with their tips to share as well.

Regardless of how you arrive, I would love for you to attend! RSVP with Meggy so there will be plenty of snacks on hand, and pack your wallet, and your cards and get to Town Center for an evening of colorful shopping!  Hope to see you there!
