Dip Dye take 2

July 11, 2012

Remember this post?  It has been popular.  So I decided to take another stab at dip dying.  I learned a few things from the first adventure, and thought I could streamline the process.   I was right!  It was very easy this time and I did it alone.  Now first let me just say I did not choose the best color for photographing as it is a soft China Blue. What can I say.....blondes look good in blue!   But I think you can clearly see the the effect!

Simple as this:
  • Stainless sink
  • measuring cup and spoons
  • Salt
  • warm water
  • spray bottle
  • Clip hangar
  • shirt
  • Dylon Dye
  • If your sink is not as deep as this one you may want to use rubber gloves
Wash the shirt.
While still damp, clip the shoulders onto the hangar.
Follow the directions on the package of Dylon Dye. (I recommend Dylon)
Dip shirt to desire depth.
Let sit in water and occasionally spray the top dip line with the spray bottle of clean water to diffuse the line.

The length of time you let the shirt set in the dye will vary based on your personal preference of desire color.  the longer in the water the deeper the color.
Rinse in cool water and hang to dry.
Wash alone the first time.
And there you have it!  Much easier than the original post I think!
