The Big Launch Party

August 18, 2015

I know I have hardly talked about my venture and my co founders, but the day has arrive!  We have been working for over 6 months on this day and can I tell ya? ..... It feels so good!  Formally know as The Kansas City Blogger Meetup, we knew we had outgrown the name.  It was time for a fresh look and a new approach to gathering bloggers together.  The Blog Guild is the brain child of Emily, myself and Erin.  We wanted to define what it was we loved so much about meeting up with other bloggers and share with our fabulous community we have here in KC.  The three key elements for all three of us was to Create a community for bloggers who can Connect with other like minded gals who share a similar passion.  We know that building a relationship with companies is what it takes to make a great Collaboration that is mutually beneficial for both the brand and the blogger.    I would love for you to take a peek and click around, check out our resources page, and if you are local.... well by all means send us your info so we can add you to the membership!   Do you have a bloggers group where you live?  Don't fret if not..... we have you covered as well; shoot us an email and we will set up a meeting to share with you how you can bring The Blog Guild to your city!

Here is just a small peek at the evening.  I am sure I will have plenty more to share soon!

Kendra Scott Jewelry opened a new store locally here and so graciously hosted our launch party.  Can you say jewelry, shopping discount, sips and snacks?  Yup, it was a grand evening.  We had photo props, a braid bar courtesy of Parlor Blowdry Beauty Bar and gave away a bunch of Kendra Scott Jewelry  to a few lucky bloggers in attendance.  I have my eye on these earrings and this necklace!

Thanks for following along and I can't wait to see where I go from here!  I know one thing, It's time to start sharing my fall outfits.  Can you believe it?

What do you get when you put a group of bloggers together on a gorgeous pool deck and colorful bar?  The KC Blogger Meetup Spring meet up of course!  Tuesday we held a happy hour meet up hosted by the gorgeous Hotel Sorella.  It was nice catching up with friends, and meeting new members.  There were fabulous giveaways including dinners, brunches, and one lucky gal won an overnight stay at the hotel! Here is a glimpse of the fun the evening held!  Thanks Hotel Sorella for a fabulous spot to mingle and munch!

What would an event be without a little selfie stick action too!

Happy Memorial day weekend!  Have a safe and happy time!

The Wrap Dress

October 03, 2014
I shared my nature trail in Wisconsin and yesterday my niece's gorgeous barn reception. So today I am sharing what I wore to her wedding and reception. I asked for your advice a few weeks back regarding what to wear to a fall wedding in Minnesota.  All the responses I received were for a patterned dress. So I went shopping.   I found this wrap around dress at Nordstrom Rack and knew it was going to be perfect.  I loved the fact that it had sleeves since it was the beginning of fall but the dress was still light weight.  I added my pearl cluster necklace and bracelet to accessorize my outfit.  I already had a pair of black pumps so that was a no brainer to wear.  I also packed my Tieks ballet (the best decision) flats because I knew at some point in the evening my feet would be killing me.  I am so glad I had them.

So lets talk about this little fella here who decided to join me in my outfit pics.  There were 4 or 5 horses on the farm and they were out for a while early in the evening.  They came running over to the gate and were so excited to see people.  This guy wanted me to do nothing but pat him... and when I stopped he nudged me.

My  pretty momma wore a wrap dress too!

And this picture here? with my eyes closed? yeah... that's me being nudged because I wasn't paying attention to him.

A Barn Reception

October 02, 2014
They say it's good luck if it rains on your wedding day.  It's also good luck if you see lady bugs on your wedding day.  But what if it rains on your wedding day, one of the windows in the barn where the reception is, is covered with lady bugs... and not one, but two rainbows appear?  That is exactly what happened last weekend at my nieces wedding.

The barn was decorated beautifully.  You didn't even feel like you were in a barn.  There were cocktails flowing all evening and the dance floor was full of all kinds of moves!  The party carried out into the drive and down to the lower level of the barn even.  They  must have had over 250 guest, but that doesn't surprise me.    Rachel the bride, saw to every little detail with twinkle lights strung thru the barn, a buffet that was scheduled to have a different assortment of foods to carry thru the night, and even down to the glassware.   There was a table with medium and small kerr jars and gold sharpies.  Write your name on your jar and refill it all night!  It was a beautiful afternoon followed by a gorgeous evening.  The rain didn't slow us down... rather enhanced the evening.  Take a look at these photos I captured and see for yourself.

This is the barn behind me where the reception was.  There were other barns on the land as well as horses which I will share with you with what I wore to the wedding.  The horses make a guest appearance!!

This is my other niece...one of the brides sisters and a maid of honor.  Obviously her groomsman had a blast caring here into the event! This would be a true depiction of her personality too.  Fun and gregarious!

And this is the happy bride and groom.

A grainy iPhone pic of me and Rachel.

Aaaaaanddddd... this is the flower girl and ring bearer.  Haha, their parents had no idea they were in the mud, and he was still wearing his new shoes from the wedding!

No wedding would be complete without a pair of Tieks.  They saved my feet for sure!

At the end of the evening Christy and  I took the limo back to out hotel!

Weekly Favorites

September 17, 2014

Happy Wednesday!  This weeks favorites are a bit random, but favorites non the less.  I saw this bag on my instagram feed and loved it immediately.  I know, you're thinking its just an ordinary speedy.  The ends which are solid black leather pull out to take on a more trapeze look.  Talk about taking on another look, this Ann Taylor cape with the zipper sides makes wearing a cape not just for super heroes!   Now you know I love a good monogram and who doesn't need a shaker for their bar cart... this would make a perfect wedding gift too!   Another monogram love of mine is this Lulu Frost necklace.  You may have seen it a while back on my instagram.  There is something wonderful to just a lone initial don't you think?

Now I know I shared fall lips and transitioning your makeup to fall here, but this rich creamy Laura Mercier lipstick is so pretty.  It is dark for sure, but with the right outfit it would be gorgeous.  Lastly, this bootie is a pretty strong contender for my wardrobe.  What color of bootie would you purchase?  Black or brown?  Leather or suede?  Black is versatile, but there is something softer to the light suede.

What a month this has been so far.  If you have by some chance missed the fact that this is my birthday month... let me catch you up today!!!!  My birthday was this past Sunday and I turned 50!   The celebrating started the day before on Saturday with a facial at Nordstrom with Smashbox cosmetics.  Shanna the makeup artist, did a fabulous job on my makeup and I now have a drawer full of Smashbox cosmetics too! The best birthday ever...!

Zoku Slush Maker

July 10, 2014
With the temperatures finally warming up cool refreshing treats are a must.   I like a frozen treat or drink but not always chunky icy treats.  Enter the Zoku Slush Maker.  I received my Zoku Slush and Shake maker a few weeks back from Zoku to try out and make a few fun treats with it.   With several colors to choose from I selected the blue. My son was all excited about it and was the first to want a shake.
It is so simple and perfect for a quick frozen treat without a lot of fuss or dragging out a blender.  In a matter of less than 15 minutes you have a perfect treat.  I want to get one for each of my boys for gifts so when they want a sweet treat all they need to do is just add their favorite cold beverage and stir.

First up is our raspberry limeade.  Fill the insert that you froze over night with your cold beverage.

The next thing we made in our Zoku was a chocolate shake.  Want to know how simple it was?  We poured chocolate milk in up to the line and stirred and scraped the walls as it froze.  Less than 15 minutes we had a delish treat!
