Tunic in Blue

May 30, 2013

Tunic Macys Last season / Pants Seven / Sandals Skemo similar / Necklace Max and Chloe / Cranium blue bracelet Bauble Bar (similar) / Watch Michele / Sunnies Chanel / Polish Essie Mint candy apple / assorted bracelets personal collection

The trees bloomed late this year but I am so glad they are still pretty to enjoy.  Gabi and I spotted this beauty as we headed to the lake for our little photo shoot and immediately knew we wanted to take advantage of this area!  Funny, when I look back at these pics my hand in always on my right hip!  I am going to try hard to mix it up in out next outfit pics! haha!

I have my hair appointment tonight, and can. not. wait.!!  My bestie was in town last week and tried to convince me to A) cut about two inches, and B) add bangs!  OK, so the two inches isn't that scary, its hair after all, and it grows.  Cutting a little actually promotes growth!  But the whole "wispy" bangs is scary!  I have tried that before, and after about 10 days I want it out of my eyes!  Sure it will "soften" my face, and might even make me appear younger!  But do I really want bangs?  It's an awfully long grow out process if I hate them!

So what would you do? Bangs, or leave it alone?  You better weigh in today because at 5 its go time at the salon!

Happy Wednesday lovelies!  I am loving the short week, and excited for the weekend!  I am going home to Tulsa for my nieces wedding and it will great to see all my family.

Over the weekend the BF and I went shopping at one of my favorite stores  Ann Taylor.  It never disappoints, is always bright, and perfect for a professional office attire.  They were having a fantastic sale and I picked up a few things.  I had so many things I wanted to get, but in the end I did have to limit myself! There is always next week!!

This little keyhole dress was as pretty in person as it is here.  Perfect for a Saturday luncheon.  This scarf was a pop of color, and I even wore it around the store with my dress while I tried things on.  I didn't purchase it, yet! But I have my eye on it!  These shorts are too stinking cute!  My weakness for shoes didn't disappoint when I spotted these lace up espadrilles!   Darling!!

If you haven't stopped by Ann Taylor lately, I think you should!  What are some of you favorites right now?

Linking up today, so don't forget to see what the girls are favoring, and I linked to Shanna too!

Tuesday as a Monday!

May 28, 2013
It is always difficult to get back in the groove of things after a long weekend, but I will take a short week!  How was your weekend? Eventful or relaxing, whichever you desired I hope it was great!  Mine was a little of both.  I had plans of yard work and a little sun by way of gardening, but mother nature had other plans for some of the weekend.  It was a perfect blend of sun, wind, and a little storm through the course of the weekend.

This little fella had his first day in the yard with the sprinkler.  Really what happened was he got a hold of a little dirt and decided he would taste it, as he taste everything, and when his momma turned around with him riding in the wagon to see a dirty mouth and a clump of dirt in his hand, we quickly decided he need to be washed off.  I sat him in the yard and turned on the sprinkler head to wash him with my hand and he was so memorized by the water, he tried so hard to catch the water sprinkles!  It was so fun watching him play in the water.

I had a receipe for a new cocktail to try, so after he went home the BF I and got busy prepping for a few drinks for the holiday! So delish.  I slliced strawberries, and muddles them with a little sweet basil, mixed it with dragonberry rum and a splash of sprite!  Yum!!!
We enjoyed on afternoon on the Plaza eating and shoping, and I picked up some great sale items. We grilled out a little this weekend, but I did take advantage of not having to cook and we enjoyed Mexican one night, and a yummy fresh fruit crepe at FirstWatch on a rainy Memorial Day monday! Our neighbors purchased a new pontoon boat and we spent the better part of Monday on the boat......... in the driveway, but none the less, on the boat! Haha, it was pretty funny with 6 adults and several kids driveway boating!

How was your Memorial Day?

#Heartthis Tee ~ Camo jeans Target ~ Sandals Sam Edelman~ Handbag  LV~ Ropes bracelet The Ropes Maine bracelet c/o ~ Silver bracelet personal collection ~ Sunnies Ray Ban

I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac, and still love them.  My son's have grown up listening to a lot of the same music I loved as a teenager, and even a lot of music from the 60's thanks to their dad.  So when my son found out they would be in town, and it was 4 of the 5 original members touring, that was all he wanted for Christmas.

Fast forward to April 30th, and this momma, along with her sister, took her two youngest sons to a great concert! It was my youngest first concert ever, and I think he liked it!  I wore this outfit to the concert, and loved watching all the people try to read my shirt!  Most of them were either in old concert tee's, a few hippies, and some couples dressed to the nines! It was pretty funny to see the variety of different outfits!  I think my outfit fit in nicely in the middle!

Have you been to any concert lately?

Words     Bracelet     Bowl      Clutch

Happy Wednesday!  What a crazy past few weeks it has been.  As I been trying not to moan about being sick, it slowed me down more than I realized.  I am a week today on meds with a few more days to go and I am about 80% back to normal.  I will be glad to have all my energy back and all this sickness behind me.  My nieces wedding is next week and I am looking forward to seeing my family and having some good sister time with all my sisters!

I really am partial to this weeks favorites.  I hate to play favorites with my weeks, but next week will have some big shoes to fill!

These words could not be truer and I have been the voice of reason and understanding for a few friends recently who needed an ear to listen, a heart to show compassion, and a head to think a bit more logical than theirs.  I have used these words a lot lately, and can only hope that they sink in for the friends I shared them with. I love all the mantras at Birdaria and this would go perfect in my office.

There is no surprise a bracelet would show up on my favorites!  This is stunning, and so unique.  It is a bit pricey but I love it! I am a sucker for unique one of a kind pieces!

I was shopping online for wedding gift ideas for my niece, and came across this Mark and Graham trifle bowl.  All I can say about it is Sugar and Love would be loved in my house! So many possibilities to this dish, I really need to find a way to make this happen.  It would make a wonderful wedding gift, not that I am getting married right away, but a birthday is on the horizon for me!!

K Slademade has added new items to her shop and this perfect floral clutch is a must for summer nights! I have a silver snakeskin clutch of hers from last spring and just love it.  A girl can never have to many handbags!

I am linking up today so be sure to check out Ashlyn and Kristin!

Mini Pennant DIY

May 21, 2013
I made this cute little pennant for one of the little girls across the street for her birthday!  She is a true girly girl and this would look so cute across her vanity mirror!  It was so easy you will want to make an entire alphabet to keep on hand to spell out any occasion!

Supplies
  • Bakers Twine any color you desire
  • Glue, or low temp glue gun
  • Mini clothes pins, you can find these at any craft or scrapbooking store
  • Adhesive letters
  • Burlap, again you can usually find this at a craft store or fabric store, I picked mine up at the scrapbooking store
  • Heavier weight fabric for pennant, I used a cotton twill and doubled it

Cut your cotton fabric into triangles and sew the two pieces together.  It's OK that this is not a perfect seam or exact.  Cut the burlap into slightly smaller triangle shapes.  I glued the burlap onto the cotton fabric with a low temp glue gun.  I did not want stitching to show on my burlap, but you could use craft glue if you prefer.

I used press on letters to spell out her name centered on the burlap.  Once the triangles were finished, I laid them out and cut a piece of twine twice as long as I needed to allow for spacing and hanging. Using the mini clothes pins, attach the twine to the pennant and our done!  Easy peasy I told you!

Super easy, fun and you can make several up to celebrate Father's day, birthdays, Fourth of July in patriotic colors would be so cute, or even a generic pennant that say celebrate!   Enjoy!  Let me know if you have any questions!

Zig Zag Maxi

May 20, 2013

Skirt Karen Kane c/o / sandals Skemo (similar) / tank Target / White blouse Ann Taylor / Jean Jacket Harold's (old) / Watch ToyWatch / Bracelets Rustic Cuff c/o /  Necklace and ring  personal collection / Sunnies Chanel / Polish Essie Mint Candy Apple

One skirt, Two looks!  I absolutely am in love with my new Karen Kane maxi skirt! It is so comfortable and flattering!  It is lined to the knees which makes it super easy to move in! With three different blues to chose from, it was easy to coordinate with!

I have mentioned before my office has a no denim policy.  So this fun outfit has two looks!  One for the office, and one for running around!  My favorite of course is with the denim!  I found a perfectly matching blue tank at Target, and all my turquoise accessories pulled it together!  I added a pop of gold on my feet with my sandals.  I have owned these sandals for almost 5 years and always receive compliments on them every single time I wear them!  I would love to get a new pair exactly the same to replace these but cannot find them anywhere!  I may just have to replace them with a pair of gold Jacks!

Happy Monday!  I am so glad to be back!  It was a rough week last week being sick, and I am still not 100%, but I am getting there!

Life Lately

May 17, 2013

So you may have noticed my absence this week. I started getting sick last weekend, and have been sick all week.  I have not felt like doing much of anything but feeling better, and working on my computer with a raging headache, and a miserable cough was not on my list of things to do.  I went to the doc and he put me on some antibiotics and some killer cough syrup, but it is still slow going for the mend!

I purposely did not post a feature today for one very good reason.  You, and the feature, deserve my full attention when I post it and I would have felt like it was not my better work.  I hope you're not to disappointed!  I just moved it back a week, and next week it will be awesome!  I promise!!

So life lately has been overall good.  I finished my pillows for my den/office, and although I picked out the fabric for the window treatment, I hated it once I started and STILL do not have a window treatment.  I may just go ahead and reveal the room as is for now and maybe let you all suggest what I should do!?  I received this beautiful candy cane looking rose bush for Mother's day and it smells so good!  We planted it in a new flower bed on the side of the house so I can see it every time I come home!  I added these flats to my closet in nude and wait for it.... neon pink with leopard and can't wait to style them and share with you!

There are two of the cutest little girls that live directly across the street from me and the BF and I have adopted them sorta like our surrogate grand daughters!  You know, we get to draw in the driveway with chalk, chase them, find frogs at dusk with them, and overall enjoy their giggles and squeal.... that is until meltdown time! As much as I always wanted girls, I still stand by the fact that boys are easier!  They both had birthdays this past month and we celebrated in the only way a 4 year old knows how!  With pink cupcakes, Minnie Mouse, and lots of princess stuff.

Fresh flowers always brighten the day, and I am so glad to see the variety grow as more come into bloom.  And that last little diddy of a pic, is my current situation, meds, syrup, and cough drops. Here is hoping for a great weekend of recovery!  I am looking forward to be back to normal next week, if there is such a thing!

What are you doing this weekend?

Four favorites // Girly things

May 15, 2013

Happy Wednesday!  It feels good to be back blogging, but I have to admit, I am still pretty sick. I cannot seem to shake this.  It sucks feeling bad,  and not to mention the weather finally turned pretty! I am going to the doctor today to find out if in fact this is allergies, a cold, or far worse a sinus infection.  I'm so over the cough!!!

On a pretty note....  I especially love this weeks four favorites because it is all so pretty and girly!  I have been looking for a few new maxi dress for summer and when I saw this Lilly dress I fell in love.  I'm not sure I can get enough use out of it compared to the price point, but I sure would try!

Bows are everywhere it seems, and why not on your feet!  These little flats would be super cute for throwing on with a simple outfit to add just the right amount of sprucing up without having to change your entire outfit! I can see these with a cute little pair of denim jeans, a bright pop of color top, and a stack of bracelets!

Ok, lets be honest here shall we?  This cake stand is absolutely gorgeous.  I loved it the moment I saw it.  I love how unique it is and what a conversation piece.  I would use this gorgeous stand for everything possible when entertaining.  Why limit it to just cakes, and sweets?  Now I just need to justify it!

I said a while back, and I stand by it, I am not a big statement necklace person.  Probably because I am busty and statement necklaces tend to lay funny, and add even more to the neckline that generally isn't required!! But when I find a necklace that is bold in statement, and short enough to lay on the neck and collar bones, it definitely  grabs my attention!  I love the colors and the slight Egyptian feel this necklace has!  I would for sure wear this statement!

So, what is your favorite this week?

If your new this week, welcome! So glad your here!  Don't forget to see the other four favorites by following the link!

A little under the weather

May 13, 2013
So it started Saturday afternoon, and by Sunday Morning I was truly in denial that I was sick.  At 4:30 I was popping advil and cold medicine to just stay ahead of the aches and sore throat.   Two days in bed on some of the prettiest days we have had yet, and it is killing me.

I hope to be back on my feet and feeling better soon!

Sweater Gap (on sale now) / Pants Ann Taylor / Shoes DSW/ Sunnies Chanel / Watch ToyWatch / Bracelets The Ropes Maine c/o / White bracelet Edit / Pearl bracelet Tiffany's / Sunshine Mother Nature c/o

So,  Gabbi asked me yesterday where were the picture we took at the lake a few weeks back?  I told her they were still on the camera, and she said you better get them up before you look silly wearing winter clothes in summer!  Haha, it has been some crazy weather here, but the sun is consistently making an appearance, and I couldn't be happier.  This outfit just makes me feel so good.  I think it is the bright stripes, and it always makes me think of water!

I love the weight of this sweater.  It is an open weave and light weight! perfect for spring, and love how well my The Ropes Maine bracelet goes with it!  I think I have done pretty good at adding more blue to my wardrobe, and I am definitely trying to think outside of the box more!!

What about you, do you find yourself in a color rut?  I know it is hard to break the draw to a certain color that you have grown so accustom to!  A little blue never hurt anyone!
