How to shop Instagram with #LIKETKIT

August 25, 2014
You may have notice lately some of my instagram photos have this added to the caption
“Sign up at www.LIKEtoKNOW.it, like my photos tagged with www.liketk.it links and you’ll get an email with ready-to-shop product details.” Or you may see something like @liketkit, #liketkit , somewhere in the text.

Let me explain why I use this, and what it means to you!  Instead of asking and waiting for product info,  all you have to do is "like" an Instagram photo with a liketk.it link and head to my www.liketoknow.it account to find the products from each photo that you "liked". Isn't that great?  Making finding product sources even that much easier!   No more searching.  No more waiting for responses or trying to remember what you liked.  I want to make it easy for you!  So here is all you have to do...

Step 1.  Sign up!  Go to  www.liketoknow.it website and sign up with your instagram account.

Step 2.  Get to liking photos! Like any of my images that include a #liketkit, and links like this  liketk.it/glZS  and you'll get all the details where to shop your favorite items!

Step 3.  Open your e-mail!   After you like the photos, the details to receive ready-to-shop product links will be sent to you via email.   Easy right?

Now don't go and worry your pretty little head about your inbox being inundated with emails, you have the option to receive the e-mails hourly, daily or weekly, based upon your preferences!  It literally take under 5 minutes to signup!

You may not be aware of this, but a lot of my instagram never shows up on the blog, so if you are only following my blog you are missing out!  So make sure you're following me on my instagram!  Got questions? Leave me a comment!!

West Elm

August 21, 2014
Last night I had the privilege to attended a preview party for the new West Elm opening today on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City.  There were sips and bites and mingling and mixing going on for sure.  But what was really going on was shopping!  I love West Elm and am so thrilled we finally have a store local.  I love that they support local artist and designers and collaborate with them in their stores.  My friends, the girls  at Ampersand Design Studio have their designs in the store!  Congrats girls!!  Take a peek below at some of last nights favorites and festivities, and of course a few item I have my eye on as well!

Weekly Favorites

August 20, 2014

This weeks favorites is an eclectic assortment of sorts, but favorites for sure!   I recently ordered new business cards and this metallic card case would be perfect for them in my bag.  While we are on the subject of bags... can we stop and just love this cross body?  I love it, and as you know I have been searching for a great cross body that is versatile but still super stylish!  Love this and it comes in several colors too!

I know by now you have seen this tee around... And for some of you I'm sure its a true statement.    This is a graphic tee I would definitely put on to run errands on a weekend looking super cute but a little bit sassy too! !  Love it!  This charm bracelet reminds me of one my mother wears.  It has always been a favorite of mine when she wears it... even though I am sure it must be heavy, not to mention, you are not at all quiet with it on either.  I definitely have this in my want list and every time I wear it i will think of my mom!  Now I know several of you have starting thinking of fall, and there is a piece of me that is a teensy bit ready too.  I love slip on shoes, and my favorites are mules.  These take the cake!  Absolutely love the detailing in gold on them and could get in the mood for fall at lot faster in these babies!  Happy Wednesday!

Baked Zucchini bites

August 18, 2014
Today I am sharing a snack I made over the weekend.  It was easy and yummy.  I am a vegetarian so when we go out to eat for Italian... I generally order eggplant parmesan.  I have mastered the art of breading and baking my own eggplant at home and I make a delicious layered baked eggplant that my family loves!  So I used the same technique I use for eggplant and tried it with zucchini.  I am so glad I tried it! I hope you love them too!

Ingredients

  • 2 zucchinis
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups bread crumbs ( I used Italian seasoned crumbs)
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Parchment paper

Slice your zucchini.  I used my corrugated slicer but a good old knife will work too.  Next lay them out on a paper towel and lightly salt both sides of the slices.  arrange them on the paper towel in rows and cover with another paper towel.  The salt works to draw the moisture out of the slices so they are able to absorb the breading mixture better. Let the slices sit while you prepare the breading and dredging!

Turn your oven on to 400 to preheat.

I used plates to coat and bread my slices, but a bowl will work too.  Measure out your ingredients and add the parmesan cheese to the bread crumb mixture.   You should add a little salt and pepper to your flour as well. Beat the eggs in a small bowl.   You are now ready to dredge!

If you have never breaded anything before don't worry... it's easy, messy... but easy! I suggest you use one hand for dry mixture and the other hand for wet mixture.  That way you don't end up breading your fingers too!  Take the slices one at a time and coat them in the flour tapping off excess.  Now drop it in the egg and use your designated wet hand to pick it up and place it in the bread mix.  With your dry hand cover and pat the bread crumb mixture on the slices then place them in rows on your baking sheet.

Bake them for 25 minutes turning them over half way thru.  Serve them up warm with a blue cheese or ranch dip!  Enjoy!

I'm finally ready to share my office space with you.  I know I have mentioned it several times and I have even shared little sneak peeks before.... but today you get the whole shebang!!!! Welcome to my office, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!  I linked to all my product sources at the end of the post but If I missed something please let me know and I will try to recall the source for you. I posted here how we painted the striped wall.  I still love it as much as I did the day we did it to!

I recently completed the gallery wall next to my desk.  I had been gathering things that I loved for some time to hang on the wall and finally earlier this summer I felt happy with how it was coming together.  I hung them with the help of my bestie over the 4th weekend.  I love how I have just the right amount of space still on the wall in the event I come across a little something to add!  This is where I spend a lot of time working when I am at home.  We just love the space and the feel in the room when we are both working.  We placed our desk back to back to open up the room and it allows us to work facing each other rather than backed up, or side by side.  You can clearly see the invisible line down the room form her side... to his side....Ha!  There is a TV mounted on the wall in the corner up behind his desk so when we are taking a break from working at our desk we can catch a little something to watch.  The only thing that is left for this room to be complete is to find the right window covering.  I am leaning towards a pair of clean sheer white panels.  What do you think? Color on the window or white? There is a large picture window to the right of this image below as well as the one you can see.

I have collected paperweights for many years now and have them displayed in this antique curio cabinet that belonged to my grandmother.  My mom always finds uniquely detailed paperweights in Europe when she travels to add to my collection.  There is an art to blowing glass and not every paperweight is a collectable.

Gingham Love

August 13, 2014
My love for gingham continues with these fab pants from Loft.  I stalked these pants until they went on sale and then beelined in to grab them!  On another completely different shopping trip this bright coral tank, also at Loft, was not on sale but a must have none the less.  I paired it with gold accessories and my new pink Ray bans sunnies.  You had to know it was a matter of time before I was going to make a pair of pink Ray bans mine!  Did you notice anything different about my photos?  These are the first outfit pics with my shorter hair... by 6 inches.  I thought I would miss it... but I really don't.  I cannot believe it was so long.  It is still plenty long, just a much shorter braid and pony tail!

Smashbox Beauty

August 11, 2014

Happy Monday friends!  I mentioned last week in my birthday recap that I had the pleasure of spending time at the Smashbox counter in Nordstrom having my makeup done for my birthday. Have you tried Smashbox Cosmetics?   I had only ever used an eye pencil so the chance to sit and learn about Smashbox cosmetics was en lighting.  Shawna the makeup artist, who is originally from KC and worked at this counter when she lived here was in from Dallas.   I was so glad to get to know her and we quickly become friends.  She explained what the products were beneficial for and why I would have a need for them.   I love when someone takes the time to answer your questions and takes the time to help you with the right product.  Believe me... I asked a lot of questions too!

I have to admit... I am not quick to change products, especially when it has to do with my skin care or makeup.  I have slowly been opening up to new products and I am so super glad I tried Smashbox Cosmetics.  The highlighting wand is uhhhh maaaazzing!!!  Don't just take my word for it, take an afternoon and sit at the counter and see for yourself!   This is not a sponsored post either.  Now it's your turn.... what brand and products can you not live without?  What's your favorite?  Leave me a comment and let me know!

Celebrating

August 07, 2014

What a month this has been so far.  If you have by some chance missed the fact that this is my birthday month... let me catch you up today!!!!  My birthday was this past Sunday and I turned 50!   The celebrating started the day before on Saturday with a facial at Nordstrom with Smashbox cosmetics.  Shanna the makeup artist, did a fabulous job on my makeup and I now have a drawer full of Smashbox cosmetics too! I will share what I got later.

There has been flowers, balloons, streamers, presents, cocktails, cake... and more cake... more presents and so much love and well wishes.  I feel loved to the core.  I am grateful for all the warm wishes and festivities everyone has taken part in so far and I thank all of you and you really do mean so much to me.  So here is a little recap of what has happened in the first week so far of the month!  Starting in the top left corner... Shanna, Michelle and I in Nordstrom at the Smashbox counter, One of my presents from Joe... that man has made this a birthday to remember for sure.... a few of my gifts from the girls at the office, I was surprised when I opened my office Tuesday to this,  we celebrated with sangria's on the Country club Plaza, cake... and more cake,  and flowers for my home.

The best birthday ever...!

My Readers

August 01, 2014
When Readers.com contacted me asking If I would be interested in working with them I didn't hesitate at all.  I wear readers daily.  As a matter a fact I have them strategically placed through out my house too.  I have worm glasses or contacts since I was in middle school and didn't have a need for readers until I hit my 40's.  Somewhere around 42 I was stretching things further and further back to read.  Now, it is the first thing I reach for at my desk to start my day.  Readers.com has some of the cutest styles and I coordinate my glasses to compliment my outfits!  They have become a daily staple for me to work at a computer all day so they better be cute!

You can always find a pair  on my head if I am not wearing them too!  Check out these darling readers.com glasses with the floral and the  pink leopard temples!

So what about all the times I am not at the office?  When I get home in the evening to work at my desk at home you can bet there are plenty of readers around.

I always have several pair hanging on my glassybaby as a cute way to keep them handy on my desk.

And for those evening I work from my laptop... yup you got it, more readers on my night stand.  This crystal jar was my grandmothers and I use it to hold my readers, hand cream and a little lip balm neatly on my night stand. I am all about keeping my readers.com glasses handy and displayed cute.

So when I say I have glasses strategically placed all around my home... I mean it!  See?  There is even a pair by the kitchen sink.  You wouldn't believe the number of times I have tried to read some label printed so tiny an ant would have difficulty!  Readers.com is definitely where I will be going to add more readers when I need them!

*Readers.com sent me glasses for this post to use. All opinions are mine and I am never without a pair of readers... or two!  I would never recommend something I didn't trust or believe in and I love my readers for sure!
